Help a Black IBCLC Pay for Nursing School

Hey there beautiful people!

My name is Angelica Knight, and I have many names/faces in my community. I’m a birth doula, an IBCLC, childbirth educator, and a yoga instructor. I operate a lot in birthwork, helping women and their babies in many ways from an emotional standpoint. After stepping into my clinical role of IBCLC, I’ve come to learn that patient care is something that I’m not just passionate about, but something I’m good at.

Pursuing my BSN was something I thought long and hard about; I’d been battling the denial of becoming a nurse for almost 10 years now and after retaking pre-reqs and applying, I got in ; Even with realizing that i was getting into school, I underestimated how life can come at your fast.

This Fundraiser has a goal of $5,000. My balance is directly reflecting my remaining semester of nursing school. Although I do have financial aid, it does not cover all of my bill. Unfortunately, this summer has been a bit rough. Some of my previous clients have not been able to pay me due to hardships of their own, as well as having issues with my vehicle have created some hardship for me. So I’m coming to my community to receive support during this time!

My end goal? To become a black midwife in my home state of NC. Taking care of all the black women who need prenatal care and support.

The State of NC has laws in place that require midwives to complete their BSN before pursuing midwifery. Practicing midwifery outside of the regulations is a Felony. There is currently less than 10 black midwives that service homebirth populations in this state and we need more of us to support these families. Please help me towards this goal!

I’ve attached a picture of my balance and fees. Next semester is completely covered, I just need some additional support to work less and focus on my studies as things become more intense. As someone who has a lot of pride and doesn’t like to ask for help, I hope you all understand that this is a last resort for me.
