Help a black, disabled, trans dude survive the winter
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kai. I'm a 21-year-old Black, disabled, and transgender artist. Unfortunately, on 12/15/2024, I lost my job. I'm living on my own due to past abuse from my family. I've been denied SNAP due to my student status and cannot afford my school's meal plans. I can't afford my medication half the time, so my mental health has plummeted severely, and I just haven't been able to do school. I can't afford a car, so I'm basically stranded when the weather is too bad to bike and when my knees are just in too much pain. I've been trying to find a new job for over a month just due to the distance I had to travel for work (asking your friends to drive you to an entirely different city for work every week gets hard after a while), eventually resulting in me being let go. I've applied to tons of jobs over the past month and in the last few days especially, with absolutely no response.
I need to be able to just afford groceries and medication. I run a small business, but unfortunately, it doesn't get enough sales to pay for these things.
Thankfully, due to financial aid, my rent has been paid for about a year and a half. But I still need to worry about utilities and my cats as well that I share with my roommates.
My hope with this fundraiser is to raise enough money to do the following:
- Afford food
- Afford my current two mental health medications
- Start and be able to afford getting on hormone therapy
- Buy necessary items for myself and my cats (non-food grocery)
- Afford to run my business
- Maybe, at the very least, a Christmas gift for myself
Thank you so much for considering helping. Even sharing does so, so much.
