As many of you know, one of our dear neighbors has been dealing with a terrible situation. He has a significant disability, but it has never stopped him from having a positive attitude! He is always looking for ways to help others. Unfortunately, he has been the victim of a vicious act. A relative convinced him to move here to Madison, Virginia; because the relative knew it would increase the chance of getting lower-income housing for themselves because of our friend's disability. The relative almost immediately stopped paying their half of the rent and refused to leave, and our friend realized they had been unfairly exploited.

With the help of his understanding and compassionate landlords, he has done his best to try to get ahead of mounting debt and avoid eviction for the past several months.

He now needs our help. Our friend was days away from being homeless with no place to go. With help from friends, he has found a potential roommate who can share the housing cost so he does not need to leave. Would you be willing to help with the expenses? It will take a few things to make this transition happen. Sadly, in addition to committing this cruel act of taking advantage of a disabled person, the exploiting relative has also left a large amount of junk in the apartment that will need to be hauled away and donated/discarded before anyone will be able to move in.

MESA has graciously offered to receive donations on his behalf to clear away the past due balance and hire some help to make the living space safe and livable. No amount is too small!
