Just days before Christmas, on Saturday, December 20th, an apartment building in El Cerrito was destroyed by a fire. In a moment that could have ended very differently, our friend put everyone else first—ensuring every resident made it out safely. In a matter of minutes, they lost everything they owned. They escaped with only the clothes on their back—no belongings, documents, or keepsakes.

At this time, the recipient is not yet aware of this fundraiser. We are working to build it thoughtfully before sharing it with them. When the time comes, they will be told about every donor and the overwhelming generosity behind this effort, and we know they will be deeply grateful beyond words.
