Support for a Beloved BAVPA Teacher Facing Medical and Financial Hardship

We are asking for your support for a cherished teacher at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts who is courageously fighting an unimaginable battle. She has recently been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and is also experiencing kidney failure. Her health has declined rapidly, and she is now unable to work as she undergoes life-saving treatments.

Because she is not yet tenured, her paid leave will run out within the next week, and she will not be eligible to receive disability benefits for 5–6 months. This leaves her and her family in an extremely vulnerable position with no income during the most challenging period of their lives.

She is supported every day by her loving husband Joe, and together they are caring for their three wonderful children:

Despite everything she is facing, her strength and love for her students and her family remain unwavering. But right now, she needs us—her school community, friends, family, and anyone moved by her story—to stand beside her.
