Eryca Bechler is a hard-working local waitress at Singletons, a single mom with a severely autistic, special-needs child, who has always carried more weight than most of us could imagine. Recently, her challenges grew even heavier—she was diagnosed with cancer and now needs life-saving medication that is far beyond her financial reach.
Several of us have been helping quietly, but her needs are now greater than what a few individuals can manage.
I’ve connected her with cancer doctors through We Care Jax and to BEAM; We Care Jax has been able to help her with medical care, but not with the costly chemo medications she urgently needs, this week.
I first met Eryca when i heard she had welcomed two young girls into her home—children she had never met—because their parents, struggling with addiction, had completely abandoned them. Rather than let them enter the state system, she stepped up without hesitation, and without the financial means. That’s who she is.
I personally visited her home dand workplace when she took these abandoned kids in to her life to make sure everything was legitimate before offering assistance. What I found was a woman of extraordinary character—someone who gives generously despite having so little herself.
If you feel grateful for the blessings in your own life and are looking for a meaningful way to make a difference close to home, this is someone who truly deserves it.
She needs help. She deserves help. If you’d like to contribute or learn how to support her directly, please reach out to me at
and I’ll provide her contact information.
Thank you for opening your heart to someone in our own backyard who truly needs this community.
