Current update: Thanks to the generosity of friends and classmates, this fundraiser reached its original $4,000 goal earlier this year and helped me stay afloat for several months. I’m still waiting on senior housing in Chicago and have posted a brief update below explaining my current situation.

A Call for Support in My Time of Need
by Terry Zeszut
At 79, I never expected to be in this position — but life had other plans. After surviving Guillain-Barré syndrome fourteen years ago (and relearning to walk through sheer determination), I now face a new challenge: Making ends meet on Social Security alone.
The Reality
Every month, I withdraw $300+ from my nearly depleted savings just to cover basics.
Chronic pain and medication side effects make finding work impossible; most jobs require a physical presence that I can’t manage.
The low-income housing waitlist in my area is 10+ years long.
What Your Support Means
While I wait for income-based senior housing in Chicago, there is a gap between my Social Security income and my basic monthly expenses. Your generosity would help me:
✓ Cover essential living costs (rent, utilities, groceries).
✓ Manage pain medications and treatments without sacrifice.
✓ Preserve the last of my safety-net savings.
I’m not asking for luxury — just stability in my golden years. Whether you can give $5 or share this campaign, you’re giving me something priceless: Hope.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
With gratitude,
Terry Zeszut
