Help a 77-Year-Old Novelist Avoid Eviction
Donation protected
I'm a 77-year-old former advertising writer and occasional screenwriter turned struggling novelist. I had a Facebook correspondence with a woman over a few months that became a friendship. She asked me for money to help with her struggling business, $25 here and $50 there. The sum grew to $4,700. But she promised to pay me back with help from her family. She sent me a check from them, which I deposited. It turned out to be fraudulent. It's left my checking account seriously in the red. Not only am I unable to pay bills, my bank is after me to re-pay them for money the woman took. I realize I was very stupid but thought I was helping a friend in need. Now I'm desperate to keep my apartment and avoid being thrown out on the street. I'm grateful for any help you can offer.
