My name is Brian, and I’m raising funds for the father-in-law of a close friend I served with in the United States Marine Corps and his family after a tragic house fire.
On April 11, 2026, Jim and Laura lost everything.
In the early morning hours, neighbors—complete strangers—smelled smoke, noticed flames bursting through the roof, and rushed to their home, waking them up just in time. Because of their quick actions, Jim, Laura, and their dog, Maggie, made it out safely.
Their home and both vehicles were completely destroyed!!
Jim Brooks is a Vietnam Veteran and a THREE-TIME Purple Heart recipient who has already sacrificed so much for our country. He’s a husband, father, and grandfather known for his strength, humility, and resilience. Despite enduring war, serious injuries, and major health challenges, Jim has always moved forward without asking for anything in return.
This is heartbreakingly the second time they’ve lost their home in recent years.
In 2024, Hurricane Helene severely damaged their house, forcing them out for nearly a year. After finally returning home in October 2025, they are now facing total loss once again—just months later.
We are incredibly grateful their lives were spared. The Red Cross has helped with immediate needs, and a friend has provided a vehicle, but they have lost nearly everything and have a long road ahead.
Jim would never ask for help—but we are asking for him.
Any donation, big or small, will make a difference. If you can’t donate, please share this fundraiser and keep Jim, Laura, and Maggie in your prayers.
Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
