My name is Taniela, and I’m an international student from Jamaica currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management while finishing my associate’s in culinary arts. I came to the United States to pursue a better education and create a brighter future for myself and my family. My mom is my only support, working tirelessly every day to provide for me and my brothers. It’s been incredibly hard for her to manage everything on her own, which is why I now have a tuition balance that I can’t cover by myself.


Without help, I won’t be able to register for the upcoming semester, and I risk losing my visa status and having to drop out of college. I don’t have anyone else to turn to back home, and I truly want to continue my education and make my family proud. Being able to register this semester would put me one step closer to completing my associate’s degree and then my bachelor’s. My dream is to own my own restaurant and build other businesses in the future. I want to be able to provide for my family and take care of my parents, which is my main goal in life.
