“Help My Daughter Heal and Walk Again After a Brutal Assault.

My name is Isel, and I’m writing this as a mother whose heart is shattered.

On May 6, 2025, my 13-year-old daughter became a victim of a hate crime and was jumped violently and physically assaulted. She was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after collapsing from the pain of her injuries. She suffered a concussion, a lacerated liver, acute kidney trauma, and a fractured pelvis. Her doctors have told us that even with surgery, there’s no guarantee she will regain full strength or ever walk normally again.

Watching your child lie in a hospital bed, terrified and broken, is something no parent should ever go through. Since that day, our entire world has been turned upside down.

But her physical injuries are only part of the nightmare.

She is no longer the carefree, vibrant girl she was before the attack, she wanted to rejoin basketball season this new school year but we won’t know if it’s possible. The trauma has deeply affected her mind and spirit. She suffers from severe anxiety, emotional detachment, and constant fear. She’s also experiencing neurological symptoms due to her head injury and is currently under the care of a neurologist. She’s begun occupational therapy to help regain cognitive function and will soon start physical therapy to begin her long journey toward walking again.

I’ve had to take unpaid leave from work to become her full-time caregiver managing appointments, medications, therapy, and supporting her through panic attacks and sleepless nights. I haven’t been paid since May 8, and our financial situation is becoming overwhelming.

We are humbly asking for help not just to cover her growing medical and therapy costs, but also to seek justice for her. Part of what we raise will help us pursue legal support and resources to hold those responsible accountable for what they’ve done. No child deserves to go through what my daughter has endured and no family should be left alone to fight for truth and justice.
