My name is Maurice Butler. I'm a veteran, a musician with 60 years of experience, and for the last 25 years, a husband.

When my wife's health took a serious turn last year, I made a decision: I was going to be there for her. I stepped back from work, spent every moment I could by her side, and watched the bills pile up while I focused on what mattered most — her recovery.

I've already booked shows. The momentum is building. And as if that wasn't enough, the transmission started failing two days before her last two surgeries. Now the repair costs $6,000 — and I can't borrow the money because I prioritized being with my wife over working to pay bills. I'd make that same choice again.
