Help Sunny with her Medical Emergency

Donativo protegido
This fundraiser was created on behalf of Sunny and the Ryu Family.

Sunny’s mother came into her room to check up on her and her mother believed that something was not right with her. Sunny wasn’t very responsive, reactive, or cognizant. Her mother called Sunny’s friend Suri for a second opinion and they decided to call 911 and they took her to the emergency room. There they ran tests and found that inside of her skull was a pool of blood and something caused the brain to swell up. After closely monitoring her state, the doctors rushed in and proceeded with an emergency surgery of removing a piece of the skull that saved her life. This was February 5th.

How could this happen to her?

Taking a step back, on January 1st, Sunny was out for a drive with her friend and she sat in the passenger seat of the car. During the drive, another driver crashed into the passenger side as he disobeyed the stop sign at the intersection. As a result, Sunny’s head was badly injured and she was rushed to the emergency room where they ran tests and scans on her body. The doctors found that there wasn't any apparent problem or damage looking at the results. After two days, she was released from the hospital and from that point forward she couldn't rid herself of the massive headaches that would come and go.

She visited the emergency room once more on January 29th because of the severe headache, dizziness, and vomiting. But, they weren’t able to find anything that caused the problem. Out of desperation, on February 2nd she visited a clinic that believed she had a concussion and recommended that she rests to recover, not knowing that couple days later she would need an emergency surgery.

Right now, she is in a Coma state as they have removed the right-side portion of her skull to release pressure on the brain. She can’t open her eyes and she is not able to talk. The doctors had to install a tube through her throat to help her breathe and she also had a tube put in her stomach to feed her. The doctors are looking at 6 months in the hospital until her brain stabilizes and she recovers.

Speaking as a close friend of Sunny, Sunny is an only child with a caring single mother that supported her until she was able to be independent on her own. She is such a caring and loving person, a hard-working individual and we can't believe this has happened to her and we are deeply in sorrow for her. The only way we thought that we can be of a help is to create this gofund me page to support both Sunny and the mother financially.

With no insurance, it will be nearly impossible to pay off the hospital bills and the rehab costs after she recovers. Her mother is working hard to pay off the double rent and bills while trying to find time to visit Sunny at the hospital (with Covid restrictions we haven’t been able to visit her). It was a difficult decision to ask for help, but we are asking for help because any amount of help will be greatly appreciated in supporting a family in need. Thank you for reading and your precious donations in advance.

With gratitude,
Sunny’s Friends
