Hi everyone,
On Tuesday, April 21st, around 6 p.m., our dear friend Shannan was struck by a vehicle while out for a run on the parkway near her home.
Shannan suffered significant injuries and was rushed to North Memorial Hospital, where she spent several days in the ICU undergoing multiple surgeries. Thanks to her strength and the incredible care team, she was moved out of intensive care on Thursday—but she still faces a long and challenging road to recovery.
In the coming weeks and months, Shannan will begin intensive physical therapy just to regain the ability to manage everyday tasks.
If you know Shannan, you know she is the life of the party—bubbly, outgoing, and someone who brings light into every room she enters. More importantly, she is an incredible mom of three teenagers, always putting her kids first and showing up for everyone around her.
This accident has turned her world upside down.
Shannan is not only the primary financial provider for her household, but also the main caregiver for her children. This sudden and traumatic event has placed her family in an incredibly vulnerable position—physically, emotionally, and financially.
Although Shannan is insured, many of the costs associated with her extended recovery—and her time away from work—will fall outside of coverage.
At this time, we have very limited information about the driver involved. We do know they were young and likely carried only minimal insurance, meaning there will be little financial recovery available from that avenue.
We are hoping to help bridge that gap so Shannan can focus fully on healing—without the overwhelming stress of how she will support her family during this time.
Funds raised will go toward:
* Medical bills and ongoing treatment
* Physical therapy and rehabilitation
* Household expenses and lost income
* Supporting her children during recovery
Anyone who knows Shannan knows how proud, strong, and independent she is. Asking for help does not come easily to her—which makes every act of kindness even more meaningful.
If you are able to contribute, whether big or small, please know it truly makes a difference. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page helps more than you know.
Let’s come together to support someone who has always been there for others.
Thank you for keeping Shannan and her family in your thoughts. ❤️
