My name is Beth, and I’m starting this campaign for my brother, Scott.
A few weeks ago, our lives changed overnight.
My brother Scott went into cardiogenic shock — a life-threatening condition where his heart could no longer pump enough blood to support his body. We almost lost him. Thanks to the incredible team at Ascension Seton Advanced Heart and Transplant, he survived.
If you know Scott, you know he’s not someone who would ever ask for help — which makes it all the more meaningful that we’re surrounding him with support now.
Scott is inotrope-dependent, requiring continuous IV milrinone 24 hours a day to keep his heart functioning. This medication is sustaining him — but it is not a long-term solution.
Transplant is.
Next week, he will receive a CardioMEMS implant so his doctors can monitor his heart pressures remotely and prevent another crisis. The following week, he will receive an ICD to protect him from dangerous heart rhythms. These procedures are part of stabilizing him and bridging him safely to transplant.
Scott is only 53. His kidneys are strong. His liver is healthy. Aside from his heart, his body is fighting. He is considered a good transplant candidate.
Right now, his full-time job needs to be staying healthy enough to make it to transplant.
Work has been affected, and the financial pressure during this critical window is real.
His home inspection business will also suffer as he steps back to care for himself. The support you show helps him realize this goal for a new heart is achievable and allows him to pursue it.
This campaign is to create a 90-day bridge — to cover reduced income, medical costs, transplant-related travel, insurance premiums, and essential living expenses so Scott can focus fully on survival and stabilization.
Heart transplantation is serious surgery, but outcomes today are stronger than many people realize. For Scott this is a chance to LIVE and means EVERYTHING.
I believe my brother deserves that chance. And I believe his cardio care team knows he can be a success story. Let's help Scott believe it to!
If you’re able to give, thank you.
If you’re able to share, thank you.
If you’re able to pray or send encouragement, thank you.
We are fighting forward.
— Beth
