Help Rob Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hello!
Earlier this year, my younger brother Rob, who's 38, was diagnosed with a very aggressive stomach cancer called signet ring cell adenocarcinoma. Even more unfortunate, because of the nature of the cancer it was already at stage 4 when it was diagnosed. It’s a devastating diagnosis and Rob has been enduring extreme and debilitating chemo treatment.
Initially, chemotherapy was the only treatments available as surgery and immunotherapy were ruled out owing to how far the cancer had already spread. Rob has responded really well to the chemo though, so these are now on the cards. Immunotherapy is cripplingly expensive and unfortunately (again) his medical insurer has refused the claim on the basis that there isn’t enough evidence to support it.
So, we need to find other ways to raise the money required for the first cycles of immunotherapy, and to help with all the other costs involved in fighting the cancer.
Rob has a gorgeous young family: a fabulous wife and a bubbly toddler, and they are expecting their second baby in September. He has so much to live for, and we hope that his vital but punishing chemo, and the possibility of immunotherapy and surgery will afford him more time with his young family.
To try and channel this adversity into something positive, I’ve committed to running the Maidenhead half marathon in October, the Bath half with Rob’s brothers-in-law next year, the Great North Run next year, and hoping to get an entry for the London Marathon in 2027. Each of these is purely for the purpose of trying to raise money to help pay for treatments that could extend my brother’s life.
Thanks for your help - it is truly meaningful and will help get us closer to taking on this battle in every way that is realistically possible.
