Hi everyone, I’m reaching out because my sister Marti and her husband Daniel need help right now. Last night around 5pm, Daniel was riding his motorcycle home from work when a semi-truck hit him, ran him into the guardrail, and drove off. He’s stable, but his injuries are really serious. He has a broken jaw and lost all of his lower teeth. The muscles around both sides of his mouth were severed, and his mouth is pretty mangled. He also has a deep cut in his pectoral muscle, a broken lower leg and ankle, a broken foot, dislocated fingers, a broken finger, sprained wrists, and road rash everywhere. Right now the main focus is getting him into surgery for his face. After that, his jaw will be wired shut for about 6 weeks and he’ll be on a liquid diet only. Recovery is going to take a long time, and Marti doesn’t fully know what the plan looks like yet beyond the surgery.
Daniel is the sole provider for Marti and their three kids. Their son Kadin is still working the current contract, which helps a little, but the family business can’t keep operating the way it was. Daniel wont be able to finish the job, so the sudden loss of income is hitting them hard. They’re now facing around $150,000 in medical bills, plus vehicle costs, rent, utilities, food, school expenses, and everything else that doesn’t stop just because of an accident. Everything feels so heavy right now.
If you’re able to donate anything at all, or even just share this page, it would mean so much to my sister and her family. They’re good people who work hard, and this has completely turned their world upside down overnight. Thank you for reading and for any support you can give. With love from our family to yours. — Their sister
