End stage kidney failure
Donation protected
This is the story of registered nurse who has been greatly impacted by the COVID virus and experienced a lack of appropriate support from the hospital and healthcare system. Laura’s health took a dive during the COVID pandemic. Prior to the outbreak Laura had been in stage 3 kidney failure for 14+ years related to abnormalities of the renal system from birth. In early 2000’s she lost her R kidney after 30+ surgeries. Laura and I became friends in nursing school, after learning what she had been through. I was blown away because she had this bigger than life persona and unbelievable positive energy with a huge heart of gold. Laura expressed she wanted to become a nurse so she can “pay it forward.” When the pandemic started Laura was on the front line working on the COVID unit, she sacrificed her own health to care for your family and friends. The inadequate supplies needed to protect our healthcare workers along with the forced vaccinations had a devastating impact on Laura’s health stripping her of the job she loved, medical insurance and her needing a kidney transplant. She jokes around saying if her story was a Lifetime movie it would be called, “Hero to homeless: a COVID story.”
- Due to her losing her medical insurance, unable to work and several hospitalizations has her overwhelmed with medical bills. Those that can help with a small donation and/or share Laura’s story would be greatly appreciated.
