Help Jax Fight a Brain Tumor and Enjoy More Happy Years

Donation protected
In 2019, our sweet boy Jax was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in El Dorado County, California, where over 300 animals were seized by animal control. Jax had spent his entire life in a cage, never knowing the joy of being outdoors, feeling the sun on his fur, or experiencing the love of a family. He was severely malnourished and suffering from an intestinal parasite when we adopted him. You can learn more about the rescue in this CBS news story and FaceBook rescue group.

The road to recovery was long, but with patience, love, and the help of our other two dogs, Jax learned how to be a dog. He discovered the simple joys of walks, car rides, hikes, and naps in the sun. Jax is now a sweet, loving boy who brings joy to everyone he meets.

A month ago, our world was turned upside down when Jax suddenly began losing his vision. He started sleeping almost all day, lost interest in eating, and became a shadow of his former self. After several visits to veterinarians and specialists, Jax was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The news was devastating, but there is hope.

Jax has responded well to medications that have reduced the swelling in his brain, allowing him to regain some vision, appetite, and energy. His oncologist has recommended a short course of radiation treatment that could give Jax several more years of happy, healthy life. The good news is that this treatment has a high success rate and minimal side effects.

However, the cost of this life-saving treatment is significant:
  • $6,668.89 for the CT scan, tumor mapping and dosimetry plan required for the radiation.
  • $13,414.32 for three radiation treatments.

Unfortunately, we do not have pet insurance, and the cost of Jax’s treatment is beyond what we can afford. We love Jax so much and want him to have the chance to enjoy more time with us, especially after the difficult life he endured before being rescued.

We are asking for your help to give Jax the gift of more happy years. Any amount, no matter how small, will bring us closer to giving Jax the treatment he needs. Your support means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any contribution you can make.

Thank you for helping Jax continue to live the life he deserves.
