Help 13-Year-Old Jarel Get a Life-Saving Kidney Transplant

Hello everyone,

My name is Vanessa, and I am the mother of a brave 13-year-old boy named Jarel, who has been diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. We are from Belmont, Westmoreland Jamaica. Our lives changed completely the day we received this diagnosis, and since then, every day has been a fight to keep him alive and hopeful.

Before his illness, Jarel was an energetic, animal-loving teenager who cared for several breeds of chickens, birds, and rabbits. He loved playing football and adored his younger sister, always protecting her with warmth and affection. His laughter filled our home until illness stole his strength.

Jarel’s battle began with heart palpitations that led us to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where tests revealed his creatinine levels were sixteen times higher than normal. He was transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies and diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney Disease (ESRD). Since then, he has been on dialysis 2–3 times a week, enduring weakness, swelling, tremors, and sleepless nights. Jarel's blood pressures been elevated causing his eyes to get damaged.

Despite everything, there is hope. Advent Health Hospital in Orlando has agreed to perform a kidney transplant, with his father as the donor. The only obstacle is the cost - USD $75,000.
