Help the people of Ile a Vache island, Haiti
I'm Captain Ray and raising money to take $35,000 in medical supplies to a hospital on Ile a Vache, a Haitian island community of 14,000 people that I and International Rescue Group have been serving for nearly 10 years. The Foundation for Hope and Health Hospital has been suffering the same fate as most of the country since the assassination of President Jovenal Moïse and the complete failure of government - the medical supplies room is bare. We have enough drugs, antiseptics, wipes, creams, antibiotics, painkillers and other supplies to replenish the dispensary, mostly collected in Yucatán, Mexico where we re-fitted our ship. This fundraiser is dedicated to the memory of Tim Webber, ex Greenpeace and Sea Shepherds man and founding Board Member of IRG whom we lost too soon.
We attempted to sail from Mexico last year but enroute our mizzen mast cracked so we had to return and haul out the boat to rebuild the mast. Now we are finally underway again and just completed the first leg of our voyage of 950 miles to Miami, now accepting more donated supplies in Florida. We are filling our ship in Florida and Chesapeake Bay with:
- Even more medical supplies,
- 10 large solar panels,
- 70 bicycles for children,
- Donations for two churches,
- Supplies to an orphanage,
- School equipment,
- 42 recycled sails to subsistence fishermen.
Please help us help Haiti, every dollar goes a long way. We are unpaid volunteers working to make a difference. We will list the many organizations we are working with in upcoming comments and the supplies we are transporting - while it is now almost impossible to ship aid there. Here's one:
Heavy boxes bound for Ile a Vache and Les Cayes from the volunteers of Coeur D'espoir Organization led by "Teach" and Kerline Jean-Baptiste, giving back through life-changing experiences. Please help them help Haiti!
