Eloisa Bueno, beloved teacher of many, and Roger Cudney, an enthusiastic singer, actor and entertainer, were in a terrible car accident in Mexico City on May 9th.

Eloisa, an English and theater teacher who has taught thousands of students in Mexico - from elementary through high school - in her 50+ year career, suffered multiple fractures: Eleven ribs, left femur, right heel, and right radius (lower arm). Due to the severity of her fractures, she lost much blood and had to undergo 7 blood  transfusions and spent 13 hours in surgery.  

Roger,  an actor and singer who in his 80's still charms us  with his beautiful voice, wit, and positive attitude,  fractured his sternum, three ribs, and sacrum. His fractured ribs punctured his lung and had to be treated immediately for pneumothorax complications.

This all happened just shy of them reaching major milestones in their lives. Roger is turning 85 and Eloisa 80 in June, and family and friends were looking forward to celebrating their 60th anniversary and all the love and joy they have brought to this world throughout their lives as friends, teachers, a couple,  parents, and grandparents.

The wonderful news is that they are ALIVE and eventually should be able to recover. However, they are  left with steep hospital bills to cover, and a very long (1-2 years) road to recovery. We are asking for financial support ($90,000 USD) to cover part of the $150,000+ of out of pocket, uninsured expenses incurred in hospital bills and the first of at least six months of at-home, 24/7 specialized nursing care.  Please help raise these funds by July 15 so they can cover all bills in as timely a manner as possible and, most of all, to ensure a safe recovery for Eloisa and Roger - also known as "Tatu" and "Gran" to family and those who know them best - in the critical months ahead.
