My grandbaby, Kalina, is currently in the hospital in intensive care, bravely fighting through a series of seizures. The doctors are working tirelessly to stop the seizures and to find out what is causing them. She is currently intubated to support her breathing while the doctors try to determine the next course of action. Her parents, my daughter Allison and son-in-law Khedrick Dixon, are not leaving her side for a moment, staying with her through every challenge and uncertainty. The road to recovery for Kalina is uncertain, and it looks like she will need to remain in the hospital for several weeks. This has been an incredibly difficult time for our family, especially for my daughter and son-in-law, who are both school teachers, in Katy ISD and Spring Branch ISD, with a modest income. Allison is a 4th grade teacher at Bear Creek Elementary School and Khed is the freshman girls basketball coach at Stratford High School. They have already exhausted all of their paid time off, and the financial strain is growing each day.
We are hoping to raise enough money to help them cover their monthly bills for the next three months, as well as the mounting medical expenses that are sure to come. In addition, Kalina will need rehabilitation and therapy once she is discharged from the hospital, and we want to make sure she has every opportunity for a full recovery. Your support would mean the world to us and would allow my daughter’s family to focus on Kalina’s healing without the added stress of financial hardship.
We are very humbly asking for assistance. It is not something that we would normally do, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can provide. Your generosity will help my grandbaby and her parents stay in their home and give Kalina the care she needs as she recovers from this challenging situation. Although it is difficult and humbling to ask for help, we promise to pay it forward when we are able. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering our family in this time of need.
