My name is Dean Dorman, and I am the father of three amazing children. This is about my middle child, Delan Dorman, who is 26 years old. No matter how difficult life has been for him, Delan maintains an incredibly optimistic attitude. He always looks for the good in people first, believing that life is too short to waste on animosity or hatred. Overall, he is simply a wonderful person and son.
Delan has a long history of gastrointestinal issues dating back to 2016. In late 2024, he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous portion of his esophagus and a hiatal hernia, followed by a Toupet fundoplication. Since then, he has been diagnosed with severe Gastroparesis.
This condition began in early 2025 and prevents Delan's stomach from digesting food correctly, leading to malnutrition and severe abdominal pain. He lost over 60 lbs within the first two months and has dropped from 190 lbs to struggling to stay above 110 lbs. Every day, he wakes up between midnight and 3 a.m. in intense pain, and on some days, he must regurgitate food that has remained undigested for over a week. Most nights, the pain makes it impossible for him to go back to sleep.
Delan has seen multiple specialists and undergone countless procedures and tests to find a solution. There is a surgery called a Gastric Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (G-POEM) that would allow food to bypass his stomach and pass directly into the intestine. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover this procedure, despite our extensive efforts to fight for coverage.
Between the surgery and accumulated medical bills, we need to raise $74,500 to cover these costs. While there is no cure, this surgery offers the best chance for Delan to live as close to a normal life as possible. It is heartbreaking to witness the physical and mental pain he endures.
Anything you can give would be a blessing and is deeply appreciated.
Our Family Thanks You
