Nine hardworking auto mechanics at our local shop recently lost everything in a devastating fire. As someone who helps out with paperwork at the shop each week, I’ve become friends with many of these guys and have seen firsthand how dedicated they are to their craft and to serving our community. When the fire swept through the shop, it destroyed all of their personal toolboxes and tools—essential equipment that each mechanic is responsible for purchasing themselves. Unfortunately, insurance did not cover their losses, and these men have invested years of hard work into building up their collections of tools.

Without their tools, these mechanics can’t do their jobs or support their families. The loss is not just financial—it’s deeply personal, as each toolbox represents years of commitment and pride in their work. I wanted to step up and help, with the shop's owner's blessing, because I know how much these guys mean to our community. They’re the ones we rely on when our cars break down, and now they need our help to get back on their feet.

The funds raised will help these mechanics replace their tools without having to go into debt, so they can continue working and providing reliable service to everyone in Cortland.
