Hi friends. I want to introduce you to one of my good friends, Brit. She is a fierce, kind, and witty woman writing a memoir about her journey through unthinkable trauma and hardships toward healing and justice. I know most of you don't know her, but trust me, you'll be inspired by her and her story. --Mike Nowlin
Brit is moving into the professional copy editing phase and a few of us are just wanting to help lighten the load, make the path a bit straighter by raising as much of the funds to cover the expenses just around the corner. Would you consider giving in any amount...it all helps a great deal! The anticipated costs to get this finished are approximately $3,600. Read below to learn about her book and about Brit.
Book Synopsis:
My memoir tells the true story of being detained at the border, locked in a California jail, and then chained inside a van for a brutal cross-country transport through twenty-seven states in eight days, back to Georgia. I sat in the county jail waiting for bond, with my life
completely on hold. Because of false accusations of stealing from my grandmother, I was cut off from her and had no contact for over four years. The pain of family betrayal, isolation, and injustice could have broken me. But instead, this journey became a spiritual transformation, a descent into the darkest places that ultimately opened me to resilience, healing, and a deeper connection with the sacred. This book is not just about surviving trauma, but about how even in the deepest confinement, a new kind of freedom can be born.
Bio:
I’m Brit, a writer and healer, originally from Georgia and now living in Eugene, Oregon with my partner, Chris and our two dogs, Birdy and Ricci. I’ve spent the past five years working on my memoir, a story born from injustice but carried by resilience and spiritual transformation. I’m passionate about being a voice for those who’ve been silenced by trauma and systems of injustice. When I’m not writing, you’ll often find me out in nature or on the river path in the evenings, handing out sandwiches and water to unhoused neighbors. This book has been my lifeline, and I believe it can be a source of hope for others walking through darkness.
