Hi my name is Claudette, and I’m fundraising for Robert Petersen to purchase a new van to accommodate his electric wheelchair. He requires a specialized modified low floor van with a wheelchair ramp, as he is confined to an electric wheelchair and is unable to walk, as he has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The Wheelchair Van he was using is now 13 years old, has had extensive repairs and is on it’s last leg so to speak. He is on AISH and there are no funds available for a disabled 42 old. He very much enjoys outings with his caregiver and spending time with his family and has several ongoing medical appointments. He has been to one Edmonton Oiler’s game in Edmonton and dreams of being there many more times, to see his favourite childhood team. He loves road trips and yearns to explore more of his province of Alberta and BC and the USA , before his illness prohibits him. He hopes for a road trip to California to visit his uncle and to see the ocean. He has monthly medical appointments, enjoys restaurants, sport events, concerts and movies with his friends and family, and this independence has been his lifeline. He is a great guy and has been through so many medical challenges and close calls in his short life. He has never been one to ask for help, which is why I am fundraising on his behalf.
