Honor Fallen Police Officer Ashley Haarmann
Ashley Haarmann's family and friends are requesting, in leu of any flowers or tangible gifts, a donation, big or small, in Officer Haarmann's honor to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy, an organization that helps to preserve Rocky Mountain National Park's beauty and majesty for generations to come. We know Ashley would have wanted this.
Ashley Haarmann was a police officer for a total of 6 1/2 years, serving her community in Houston, Texas and then Boulder, Colorado. Ashley moved to Colorado to have better access to the “adventures” in the mountains and beautiful scenery that made her and her life-partner, Gina Oliver so happy. Tragically, Ashley passed away while doing what she loved while off-duty; hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Last Thursday 7/15/21, she had reached the summit of Mount Lady Washington at around noon. On her way down, she took a bad series of falls.
Despite the fact that it was late in the evening and inclement weather conditions, the brave National Park Rangers went in to rescue Ashley. Unfortunately she had passed by the time they got to her. These Rangers risked their own safety to get Ashley off the mountain so that she would not be left overnight.
Ashley loved the outdoors and loved the mountains even more. Her life-Partner, Gina, knows that she would have wanted measures to be taken to preserve the Parks beauty and majesty for future generations to come and also to support the emergency response teams. In lieu of any flowers or tangible gifts, she is asking her loved ones and people in the communities in which Ashley served, to make a donation to benefit Rocky Mountain Conservancy (Rocky Mountain Nature Association (former name), includes former Rocky Mountain National Park Associates). Any donation will go straight to Rocky Mountain conservancy and will help make an impact. The end goal would be to accumulate a sum of money large enough to create a financial instrument that would fund conservation of the park for generations.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to Officer Ashley Haarmann and Gina.
