In just a few short years, 9-year-old Carter has lost both of his parents. Carter's mom, Leanne, died in 2022 when Carter was just 5 years old. After the sudden passing of his father, Dwayne, on February 27, Carter will now be moving in with his older sister Brittany as they begin rebuilding their lives together.

In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, Carter’s older sister, Brittany, has stepped forward to give him a loving and stable home. At such a young age, Carter has already faced more loss than a child ever should, and Brittany is doing everything she can to help him feel safe, supported, and surrounded by family. This is a big task in the face of such significant loss, knowing that Carter has not only lost both of his parents, but has to leave his community behind as well to begin his life as part of his sister's family.

Unfortunately, in the days following Dwayne’s passing, it has become clear that there are no funds available to cover the mounting expenses now and over the next few months. Costs related to cremation, settling Dwayne’s estate, and helping Carter transition into his new home and community are quickly adding up.
