Help Support Macon County 911 Dispatcher Wayne Pendergrass After House Fire
In the early morning hours of July 23rd, tragedy struck one of our own. Wayne Pendergrass, a dedicated 911 dispatcher for Macon County for over 26 years, lost his home to a fire. Not only is he a 911 dispatcher, but a retired fireman with 30 years of service between the Nantahala and Clark's Chapel Fire Departments! Most importantly, he is a father and grandfather. While Wayne and his family were thankfully unharmed, the fire completely destroyed his home and belongings.
Wayne has spent nearly 3 decades answering and/or responding to the call when others are in crisis — dispatching for law enforcement, fire, and EMS in Macon County, NC. Now, it’s our turn to answer the call for him as he now faces the enormous task of rebuilding his life from scratch.
This GoFundMe is to help Wayne with immediate needs like clothing, food, temporary housing, care for them family dog that thankfully was able to get out of the house, as well as long-term costs associated with facing a challenge of this magnitude and severity. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a real difference in helping a man who has selflessly served his community for so many years. Prayers for strength and guidance are also necessary, and would be very much appreciated.
Please share this with others who know Wayne, his brothers and sisters in emergency services, or anyone that may want to support someone who has given so much of his life to helping others. Let’s show him he’s not alone in his time of need!
