Help start a nonprofit - 9,000 suffering migrants need help
Donation protected
My Purpose:
Hi, I'm Bryson, and I am in the process of founding a nonprofit: Global Aid Projects (GAPs). GAPs is dedicated to supporting vulnerable and migrant communities worldwide by delivering aid and long-term development projects, raising awareness of underreported humanitarian crises, and partnering with local organizations already working in these communities.
The (underreported) Need:
Our first focus is La Pista in Maicao, Colombia, one of the largest informal settlements in the Americas. This settlement of over 9,000 people (mostly Venezuelan migrants, displaced Colombians, and indigenous families) sits on an abandoned airport runway. Basic survival is a daily struggle: families live in overcrowded shelters made of cardboard, tarps, and scrap metal, often without food, clean water, or electricity.
More recently; global humanitarian support has nearly vanished. Recent budget cuts in humanitarian aid forced many international NGOs (nonprofits) to scale back or leave, suddenly leaving residents without basics that they depended on like food, water, or healthcare. GAPs is hoping to fill those gaps in care.
I plan to focus on meeting basic needs first that these people need to survive, and then work to develop programs that foster long-term economic self-reliance.
Where your donations will go:
*All funds will be directed towards the NGO's creation. Anything extra will go towards the NGO's ongoing operation*
Starting a nonprofit is an expensive endeavour, so any support would be amazing for things like:
- Startup costs, incorporation, tax-exempt status (expensive), any other legal filings
- Website creation, hosting, domain
- Other operational expenses like intital fundraising costs, registered agent fees, annual filings
- Flight tickets for our first field visit to Colombia . . .
I’m planning a business trip to La Pista in Maicao, Colombia soon to document firsthand the reality these people face every day and to evaluate potential partnerships with reputable local aid groups for sustainable, grounded assistance. Our first anticipated partner is a Colombian children's food kitchen that has been struggling to stay open since funding cuts. With your support, I am confident that we can assist these people, and others around the world, in the most positive and effective means possible.
Once GAPs is officially up and running with our website live, I’ll be sharing updates, photos, and stories so you can see exactly how your support has made a difference.
If you read this far, I truly appreciate your time and interest. I am so excited to work on this NGO and truly believe that this model can make some positive change around the world, especially in communities that feel as if they are being forgotten.
Genuinely, THANK YOU!!
