Help 8-year old Driti get brain bypass
Donation protected
Hi, I am Marzia and I have launched this campaign to raise funds for Driti Mythilli Swami. Driti is 08 years old and the only child of her parents. She is the niece of my long-term friend, Ravindra Swami, and currently suffering from a rare genetic disease that threatens her life if it goes untreated.
Driti is family. I was there at her parents' wedding and vividly remember the news of her birth. I have enjoyed her antics. She is the most exuberant, innocent, sharpest, sweetest kid. It's hard to believe I'm writing this about her.
Driti has been diagnosed with a very rare brain disease, Moyamoya. She had suffered a stroke on 23 December 2020 and was admitted to Dr. Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, for 08 days. The family also lives in Pakistan. The doctors performed a cerebral angiogram on 26 January 2021, in which she was diagnosed with a mild form of Moyamoya (3rd Suzuki Stage). Moyamoya is a disease in which the brain's arteries narrow down with time and restrict blood flow and oxygen to the brain which can result in further Ischemic Strokes and life-threatening disabilities.
Driti is on Ascard 75 mg and Rovista 5 mg daily, but this can only delay the narrowing down of the arteries and not stop it. The only solution is Revascularization Surgery (Brain Bypass). Her doctors have ruled out surgery in Pakistan as there is no known case of successful surgery over here and advised her to take her to Japan, the US, Singapore, or India where such surgeries have been successfully carried out. After having consulted various neurosurgeons, the family has managed to get in touch with one very experienced neurosurgeon from Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru (Bangalore), India, who has advised to immediately get the Revascularization Surgery of both sides of the brain done to reduce future instances of stroke.
It is a highly complicated surgery and very expensive as well. The estimated cost of surgery is PKR 3,000,000 (3 million) which includes surgery, ICU, and other hospital expenses. Driti's family and us friends are jointly getting together in creating a fundraising campaign to help this sweet child recover from Moyamoya and have a safe and healthy life. I am sharing the contact details of her parents so you can directly communicate with them. The hospital recommendation/advice can be taken directly from the parents if required.
It is a humble request to all those reading this and whoever is in a position to help this kid to please come forward and also share this post among your circle.
Thank you so much for reading this.
