A close friend of mine and our community needs our help! Janice is a retired 74-year-old horse trainer and riding instructor. She spent her entire life helping others. When it came time to retire she bought an RV to live in, it gave her the ability to travel and stay near her family and friends. The RV park also gave her the amenities that she needed to stay independent. Recently, her health declined and the doctors informed her that what was causing her current illness had to be something she is around every day. Taking that information she went on the hunt for what it could be. During her search, she discovered her RV had black mold and unfortunately, it was everywhere behind her walls and her trailer was deemed unliveable. She went out on the hunt to purchase an RV and found many local dealers. All stated to her that all she needed was good credit and some cash down. She asked them if $5000 down was enough and they told her that was perfect. However, since she is living off of social security she would need a co-signer that has a good credit score too and a good steady income. Her family immediately said they would. So Janice got rid of her trailer and then went down to purchase her new home. That is when everything went south. Now homeless, she finds out that either she or her co-signer have to show proof of purchasing something in the last few years for $20,000 or more and it had to be something that required financing. Unfortunately, neither has purchased anything over $20,000 in several years. So now Janice finds herself living in the shed that is on her property where she used to keep her RV. Janice is 74 years old and is currently on 16 medications and has been diagnosed with Kidney disease, high blood pressure, dissecting aorta, fibromyalgia and much more and
has had a heart attack! She and her two dogs are living inside this shed! There is no bed for her to sleep on because she already bought a brand new mattress for the RV she was supposed to be purchasing but it doesn't fit in her shed. She has very little room for her to move around since this shed is also storing all her belongings from her previous RV. This is not ok, no woman who has spent her entire life helping others should be living like this. She did not want the help and told me that she was ok with staying in the shed until she figured something out and I am not ok with that. I made this Go Fund Me to raise enough money to purchase the RV without her having to make payments.
I attached pictures of her current living situation and the old trailer she once lived in. She is not looking for a fancy RV she just wants something like her old one but obviously without black mold!
Please help if you can!
Thanks, Everyone!
