Beschermde donatie
Hi, my name is Olivia Moreno Carlson. I’m 70 years old and live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I’ve worked hard my whole life, with degrees in social work and counseling, and many years spent helping others. I never imagined I’d be in this position, struggling just to get by in my senior years.
I currently live alone and rely on Social Security, but it simply isn’t enough to cover all my basic needs. I lost my retail job due to a health issue, and with no family support, things have become even harder.
My husband passed away in 2016 from complications related to MS. Since then, it’s just been me. I’ve been doing my best to stay afloat, but lately, even daily essentials, like groceries, rent, and utilities have become difficult to manage.
You may have seen my story on the CBS Evening News, which aired on June 12, 2025, as part of their series on the affordability crisis in America. It’s not easy sharing this part of my life, but friends encouraged me to start this GoFundMe, and I’m reaching out with hope in my heart.
I’m hoping to raise $5,000 to help with basic living expenses and much-needed home repairs, especially to fix the rotting handicap ramp in my backyard. The front steps are hard for me to manage, and the ramp is my only safe way in and out of the house.
Your support, no matter the amount, means the world to me. I’ve been praying for help, and if you’re reading this, please know that your kindness is truly a blessing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
With gratitude,
Olivia
