Hi, my name is Shirley and I'm fundraising for little Benson.
Benson Kiema was born in Nairobi,Kenya at a government hospital. He was born with Microcephaly, a rare neurological condition where an infant's head is significantly smaller than normal , due to improper brain development, This condition can be caused by genetic, environmental or infectious factors, and often leads to developmental and ongoing medical challenges.
From his earliest days , Benson's life has been a journey of courage and resilience. His parents faithfully took him for therapy sessions and he responded positively, growing active and determined. At the age of 3 years, Benson was able to join school, a milestone that brought so much hope and joy to his family.
Although he would occasionally fall ill and receive outpatient treatment, his condition became critical last October when he suddenly experienced severe convulsions at home. He was rushed to the nearest hospital and he was admitted to the High Depency Unit (HDU) for 5 days. He was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi for specialized care.
Today, Benson a 7 year old pupil at Noonkopir Primary School has been hospitalized since October. He is bravely fighting for his life at Kenyatta Hospital.
His young body is battling a bone marrow failure, a serious condition that prevents him from producing healthy blood and its components, leaving him weak and in urgent need of help.
His future depends on a life saving bone marrow transplant, scheduled to take place in India, depending on availability of timely funds. The total cost of the procedure and related medical expenses is 9 million Kenyan shillings which is approximately CAD 95,000, an amount far beyond what his family can afford. They have exhausted all their resources trying to save their son
We humbly ask for your support. Any contribution, big or small, will bring Benson closer to another chance at life.
Let us come together for little Benson. Your Kindness can help rewrite his story
