Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

We are reaching out on behalf of 6-year-old Demetrio (DJ) Padilla Jr., son of Breanna Aguilar and Demetrio Padilla Sr., a bright and loving little boy whose life has suddenly taken a heartbreaking turn. DJ was being seen in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the University of New Mexico Hospital, and has since been transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Colorado in Aurora Colorado (PICU). DJ is fighting against an unknown neurological disease and there are doctors in Colorado that specialize in this area of illness that will hopefully be able to help facilitate DJs recovery and bring him home.

Doctors are working tirelessly to find answers, but at this time DJ remains in a medically induced coma and intubated as his medical team searches for a diagnosis and treatment plan. Watching their son go through this has been devastating for his parents, who are doing everything they can to stay strong for DJ while facing overwhelming uncertainty.

Unfortunately, the family’s insurance coverage is limited, and the costs of prolonged hospital care, treatments, and ongoing support are already becoming more than they can manage. The last thing DJ’s parents should have to worry about is money while they focus on their son’s recovery.

This fundraiser has been created to help supplement medical costs, travel expenses, and any other needs that arise during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward supporting DJ and his family as they navigate this unimaginable journey.
