On Tuesday evening at 6pm, my six-year-old daughter Bonnie’s specialist wheelchair was stolen from our drive on Alexton Gardens. I had briefly taken it out of the boot to clean the car, and in that short moment, someone took it.
This wasn't just a piece of equipment; it was custom-made for Bonnie. Because Bonnie is autistic and has hypermobile knee joints, she relies on this chair for her independence and her daily routine. Without it, she is in pain when walking and becomes incredibly distressed.
As the chair was provided through a loan scheme, we have been told we may have to pay up to £1,000 for the stolen chair before a replacement can even be commissioned. It will then take another six weeks to be built.
We are heartbroken that someone could do this. We are raising funds to cover the cost of the replacement so Bonnie can get back to her usual routine and start enjoying the outdoors again. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us.
