January is coming, and for hundreds of little ones in rural Kajiado, Kenya, the new school year will begin without them. Not because they’re unwilling to learn or because their families don’t value education — but because the nearest school is too far for their tiny legs to walk. Most villages do not have early learning centres or childcare, so many children stay home until they are much older, starting school years late and already struggling to catch up.
We want to change this for 600 preschoolers.
This campaign supports Patinaai Osim, a grassroots organization working with Indigenous Maasai communities in rural Kajiado. They are creating safe, community-based early learning spaces so children can start school on time this January. These centres offer a secure place to learn, play, and prepare for school. They also provide trained caregivers, learning materials, and nutritious snacks — all located inside the village so children no longer have to walk miles to the nearest school.
Even a small recurring gift (as little as $15/month) helps sustain a child’s place in the program and keeps these centres running.
Early childhood education has lifelong impact. Children who start school on time are more likely to read at grade level, stay in school longer, avoid early marriage and child labour, and build the confidence they need to thrive. A safe early learning space is not just about ABCs — it’s giving a child a fair start in life.
Your support will help us set up and maintain early learning centres, train local caregivers, provide books and learning materials, and ensure that 600 children enter school with confidence this January.
If you can give, thank you. If you can’t, sharing this campaign with a few friends is just as powerful.
Thank you for helping these little ones take their first steps into school — not years behind, but right on time
