Hi, I’m Deborah Buccolini, and I’m raising funds for Escolinha do Carlao—an after-school program in one of Rio de Janeiro’s poorest slums.
Nine years ago, I first volunteered at this school, and I was deeply moved by Carlao, its founder. He is more than a teacher—he’s a second father, a mentor, and a safe haven for kids who face violence, drugs, and extreme poverty at home.
When I visited last year, I was heartbroken. The school had no books, no pencils, not even a whiteboard. The government cut all funding, and volunteers stopped coming. But these kids still dream, and they still deserve a chance.
So I’m going back. In March 2025, I’ll return to Rio to help rebuild Escolinha do Carlao with essential school supplies, educational materials, and better learning spaces. My goal is to raise $2,000 AUD with three key milestones:
✅ $500 – Basic School Supplies
Pencils, pens, notebooks
Paint, brushes, craft materials
✅ $1,000 – Interactive Learning Materials
Puzzles, board games, flashcards
️ Playdough & creative tools
✅ $2,000 – Classroom Furniture & Equipment
️ Whiteboards & markers
Desks, chairs, storage shelves
Every $10 buys 5 notebooks & 10 pencils—things we take for granted but mean the world to these kids.
If you can spare the cost of just two coffees, you can give a child in Rio the tools to learn, create, and dream.
Donate today and help bring hope to Escolinha do Carlao. ❤️
