Help 5 Trans Folks Survive For One Month
This past week, five trans people - almost all people of color - were suddenly fired without cause or warning from their workplace. This horrible decision has left everyone stressed emotionally and financially. In particular, everyone's housing, medical care, and gender-affirming care are now at risk.
Each person who was laid off has done tremendous work for the Sacramento County queer community. It can be extremely difficult for trans people to find safe and accepting place to work, in addition to other barriers and discriminatory factors. If you are able, please help ensure that everyone can get through the next month without needing to worry about losing their housing and health care. Our goal is $20,000, which will cover the following expenses:
-$2,000 for each person, which will help with rent, utilities, food, out-of-pocket medical costs, and other basic survival needs.
-$8,000 for one person's upcoming gender-affirming surgery, which was supposed to be covered by insurance that everyone has now lost
-Extra funds to assist with any other urgent needs that can arise when living as a marginalized person without a secure safety net
