Help 5 Stranded Cats in Rural Georgia

I never expected to stumble upon five desperate cats at a rural gas station in Dooley County, Georgia—but here they were. Sadly, this area has no animal control, no rescue groups, and no TNR/community cat program. I’ve reached out to every rescue I can find, but everyone is full.

Still, something must be done. These cats need help now.

I’ve found a low-cost clinic willing to provide spay/neuter surgeries plus vaccines for $100 per cat. That’s $500 for all five—but I’ve set the goal at $700 to ensure there are funds available if the clinic discovers wounds, infections, flea infestations, or other issues while the cats are under anesthesia. It’s inevitable that at least some of them will need extra medical care after surviving without help for so long.

I’ve already begun planning the trapping process and will get them in as quickly as possible. If a reputable rescue does step in before their surgeries, all funds raised will go directly to that rescue to cover medical expenses.

These cats are not feral—they approach travelers, make eye contact, and hover close, as if hoping for kindness. I believe they were once pets, dumped and left behind. Right now, their only “shelter” is a trash can or the overhang of a gas pump.

I want to stop the suffering before it grows. Preventing more kittens from being born into this harsh, unstable environment is the most urgent thing I can do for them.

I am just one individual—not an organization—but I’m committed to putting in the time, travel, and labor to see this through. What I don’t have is the financial means to cover all their surgeries and vaccines alone.
