Hi everyone! We are FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 467 from Shrewsbury High School. We will be representing the town of Shrewsbury, MA at the 2018 FIRST World Championship in Detroit, MI from April 24th through April 29th.
This year we were awarded the Chairman’s Award at the New England District Championships, landing us a place to compete in the FIRST World Championship. This is the most prestigious award at competition, granted to the team that best acts as a model for other teams to emulate and best spreads STEM education. At the World Championship, we will be competing with our robot as well as presenting for the 2018 Championship Chairman's Award. While we are beyond excited and grateful for the phenomenal opportunity before us, we are also daunted by the financial challenge of funding this trip on such short notice.
The cost to simply attend a competition is immense and adding additional travel costs to the team and to each student is considerable. Our team has had to pay for buses, hotels and meals to attend both the district and regional competitions, and now we have these costs at higher rates due to the shortened time frame.
We ask if anyone would be willing to give what you can to help our team offset some of these expenses, so that the financial burden doesn't hinder students from the incredible experience of competing at a World Championship.
Attached is our Chairman's video, which gives a quick glance at some of the outreach our team participates in.
Thank you so much for your time and assistance!
