Help 43 year old Ryan Colborne fight Colon Cancer

Donation protected
On February 12, 2021, on his 43rd birthday, my brother Ryan Colborne awoke from his scheduled colonoscopy with the doctor’s hand on his knee saying the dreaded words ... “you have cancer, I’m sorry”. No one by his side, not even his wife Amanda who could not be there because of COVID restrictions. Ryan had to face this devastating news alone.

And then Ryan and Amanda waited. Waited for the biopsy results, waited for the meeting with the surgeon to discuss the findings, and waited to hear definitively whether it really was the frightening “C”. Unfortunately, the news was not good. It was confirmed that my brother, Amanda’s husband, Kristina, Cameron, and Caleb’s father had colon cancer.

THE PLAN... Ryan’s surgery has been booked for March 17th, St Patrick’s Day. A day that Ryan and Amanda would normally celebrate with friends, family and green beer. There will be no celebrating this year with the uncertainty that they are facing. Only with surgery, will we know if the cancer has spread. Ryan’s surgery will involve, at best, removing a large portion of his bowel, what else remains unknown. This is just the beginning though of Ryan’s path back to good health! The doctor has said that intense chemo following the surgery is the likely next step in Ryan’s journey. This news has absolutely devastated Ryan and his wife Amanda. Their children Kristina 26, Cameron 17, and Caleb 9 are doing their best to be strong but, as you can only imagine, that is not an easy task.

Everyone who knows our stubborn Ryan aka Rhino has been rocked by this news. Ryan is the life of the party; this isn’t supposed to happen to guys like him, he’s only 43! Right now, we need his famous stubbornness to come though full force to beat this!

Ryan is a loving and playful father who generally has everyone around him in hysterics. Right now though, no one is laughing; we are only committed to making his and Amanda’s lives easier so they can focus on what’s important, and that is beating the shit out of cancer! Our immediate goal is to give the family one less thing to worry about by paying the ongoing bills that will keep coming in. Together we can make this happen. While Ryan is off work, the family will still need food and shelter and since E.I. is only for 15 weeks, there will be a substantial deficit in the monthly income to cover basic expenses. And this is where you all come in! We need your help – we can’t do it without you! I am asking you all to dig deep in order to help support our Ryan and his family as they fight this battle. We appreciate any amount you can donate to this GoFundMe; no amount is too small because every little bit will help.

Thank you for being there for Ryan. We will continue to update you all every step of the way as Ryan progresses on his journey back to good health.
