I am an in-house substitute teacher at Connect Community Charter School in Redwood City. I would love you to join me and two of my colleagues, 7th grad teacher Alexandra and eighth-grade teacher Jonathan, to raise funds to pay for a bus to transport students to a community service opportunity. We are raising money to allow approximately 40 middle school students to participate in Kiwanis District 34 Annual Special Games.
The over 40-year-old event started by physical ed teachers now serves over 1000 students annually. Hosted by Kiwanis clubs in two divisions, the event is staffed by volunteers primarily from local Kiwanis clubs and local high school Key Clubs. In addition to providing special-need students with opportunities to participate in fun and competitive activities, the event showcases how people can make a difference in the lives of others.
Connect's mission is to prepare students to be self-aware, responsible, life-long learners, motivated to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. The school aims to develop future leaders by formenting academic excellence, enhancing critical and creative thinking skills, cultivating curiousity, and fostering social and emotional development in a nurturing and caring community.
