Help 3rd Gen Altadena Family Impacted by Eaton Fire
Donation protected
My brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and kids (21, 12, 10, and 4) are a third-generation Altadena family displaced from the Eaton wildfire. Marcus and Autumn met in high school (both graduated from Pasadena high schools John Muir and Blair) and reconnected 12 years later to start a family.
During that time apart in young adulthood my brother Marcus stayed local, living in Altadena his whole life and worked in Urban Forestry for the city of Pasadena. Always helping community, keeping the city beautiful, and watching the changes of Dena year over year. Autumn left the area and served overseas in the AirForce for 15 years until her retirement and return to LA, her childhood home.
They have always loved Altadena, grew up here themselves, and chose to honor the legacy of Black homeownership and community building in this area by raising their kids in this town. They evacuated in the early morning hours of Jan 8, leaving the only home my niece and nephew have ever lived in, and are in need of funds to support themselves, the kids, Autumn’s disabled brother Tang, and my eldest nephew Marcus Jr who’s a current college student during this traumatic event. They are unsure if or when they will be able to return to their home and with the fires still actively burning in their neighborhood if they will have one it return to at all.
Our city will never be the same but we believe in the power of community, mutual aid, and caring for each other. Any amount you can give to support them during this time is appreciated.
