Hello everyone,
This week has been a challenging and difficult week on so many levels.
Without revealing too many personal details I was asked to help a woman in my neighborhood who was recently evicted and living on our street. She was kicked out of her home and evicted with her 3 sweet cats. She knew me because I had previously done TNR on her rental property and helped her get many cats fixed at this residence. I quickly realized how dire this situation was. She needed to be able to have the freedom to go to a Woman's Shelter and rebuild her life without having to worry about what would happen to her cats.
She asked me to rehome her 3 cats and of course I agreed to help her.
What I wasn't prepared for what the medical issues that came with these 3 surrenders.
All 3 cats have severe feline stomatitis; inflammatory dental disease or periodontal disease which is INCREDIBLY PAINFUL to the cat.
The only way to properly "cure" stomatitis is a full dental extraction which is very costly. I was quoted minimum $750 per cat for dental extractions along with anything else that may arise.
For the 3 cats to get the dental procedure they need to have done to live a healthy pain free life, this will cost me $2,250 on the low end. This does not include medication and aftercare.
Today's vet visit alone was $727.50 - exam fee for each cat, snap test for each cat, as well as antibiotic and steroid injection for each cat.
Which totals $2,979 for dental extractions and todays' vet visit. I am hoping to raise $3,000 for these 3 cat's medical issues.
I have noticed that Papa cat has some concerning issues on his ears and I am sure the vet will want to biopsy those. I am just hoping to cover my costs as this is a lot of money to pay as an independent street rescuer.
This has been a long and exhausting day and I am graciously asking for help to cover the medical costs for these 3 sweet cats who deserve a loving home and a healthy life.
Thank you all for supporting my rescue efforts and TNR adventures. I truly couldn't be able to do what I do without the immense support of our community of animal lovers.
