Help 3 Friends After Home Fire
Donation protected
I’m creating this fund for my sister Kristen, her boyfriend Derek, and his brother Tyson after they lost their home to a fire.
On May 15th the day started like any other, Derek and Tyson were home because they were out of work due to the pandemic. Luckily, Kristen had just started work at her café after three months of it being closed. Smoke started billowing into their apartment out of nowhere. The brothers immediately went outside to see where the smoke was coming from. The water heater in their neighbor’s backyard exploded in flames. They grabbed a fire extinguisher and broke down the fence to stop the fire. Unfortunately, it was too late at that point. They ran to the front of the house and shortly after the fire trucks came. My sister arrived soon after that to hear the devastating news that their apartment was going to be torn down due to exposed asbestos, black mold, and fire damage. They have since been couch-surfing with friends and family.

It’s hard to understand what losing your home in a freak accident can feel like, especially being so young. Coupled with the pandemic and unemployment status, I can’t imagine what these three are going through. When I talk to them, they have so much hope and resilience. Their positivity through the darkest times is so inspiring. We are asking for any support or to spread the word to help them land on their feet after a string of major setbacks.
We are hoping to raise $3,000 to help replace lost furniture, clothes, pay the deposit on a new apartment, and aid in rent while out of work. Anything helps and thank you for your support.
