Help 3 children who have lost everything

We are Lisa and Delarey Wagener brother and sister to Wynand. We are working together to rebuild our family who face a disaster of unprecedented proportions in South Africa.

On September 24, 2021 an unthinkable tragedy befell our family. Our big brother Wynand Wagener (54) and his beloved wife Charné (43) were tragically killed in a head-on car collision through no fault of their own. Charné and Wynand leave behind three of their five children; Mieke (22), Kehnyn (21) and Nina (18).

 

During their brief lives, Wynand and Charné have faced more pain and tragedy than it is possible to imagine.

 

In 2012, Charné’s 7 year-old daughter Tamzyn was killed in a tragic accident. Wynand was by Charné’s side throughout her grief and pain, supporting her emotionally and financially through the ordeal. The power of their love carried them through and their bond was unbreakable. Wynand and Charné were married in 2018 and, with their four remaining children, celebrated their tremendous love story.

 

 

 

 

In 2020, the family was broken with the loss of their beloved son, Jacques aged 23, in a shocking car accident. The devastation and suffering of Wynand, Charné , Mieke, Kehnyn and Nina in the past year is indescribable.

 

Yet every day, Wynand and Charné got up and moved forward, through their pain, for their three children, believing the next day would be better than the last. Their faith, strength and humanity were an inspiration. Their generosity and charity to others never faltered while Covid19 and the economic situation badly impacted Wynand’s business. Financially this tragedy could not have come at a worse time. As proud parents Wynand and Charne tried to hide their financial struggles as much as they could.

 

To lose Charné and Wynand after such struggle and agony is too much to bear. It’s a tremendous shock and has shaken us to the core. We are picking up the pieces of shattered lives in South Africa. Mieke, Kehnyn and Nina must find a home, figure out all the things one has to do in daily adult life, education, car insurance, food - everything. As the older kids, Mieke and Kehnyn, want to make sure Nina is secure and can focus on her matric exams next month. It’s all too much at such a young age but they will survive it. These three children are amazing, We are in awe of them, and we will all support them.

 

With no funds and many associated costs, we are asking for your help to support Mieke, Kehnyn and Nina through this devastating loss. Anything you can afford to give would be so very much appreciated. Your generous contributions will go solely to the children. It will allow them to meet their existing commitments, keep them in education and hopefully provide a semblance of their former lives until their futures are determined.
