My name is Rita Sanders. I am the founder of 2nd Chance for Strays, a no-kill stray cat rescue home established in 2016.

I am the sole provider and caretaker for over 100 homeless cats and kittens. Some are safe inside, awaiting adoption, or receiving medical care.. But many are struggling to survive on the streets..

Last year, a long time resident cat lady in the neighborhood was forced to move.. She abandoned her very large colony that had depended on her for over 15 years..

In a desperate effort to survive, most of them gravitated to my colony.. I've done my best to absorb and save as many as possible.. But she was a feeder, not a fixer.. And due to unusual circumstances last year, I was not able to TNR many of them..

This is a private, non-profit rescue.. so, I don't receive any of the grants, funding, or discounts that most 501c3s get.. I live on a small fixed income.. Everything is done here out of pocket, and with the help of people like you, mostly followers of our social media..

I have done my best to save and integrate as many as I could, but was not able to get the needed TNR done for all of them last year. As a result, most of the cats and kittens from her colony have now survived the winter, and are about to enter breeding season..

If I can't get them TNR'D over the next 2 months, there will be a population explosion here, the likes of which hasn't happened in all the 10 years since I moved in and started this rescue! And there is just no way I can provide enough food to support a new generation of the size it would be..

Presently there are 25 newbies from the abandoned colony that need to be done..

If those 25 newbies breed, that number can easily become 200 or more, this year alone! I just can't take care of that many by myself! I'm already maxed out!

So, so many will be born, only to starve, and die in terrible ways! It's better they aren't born at all, than to suffer such awful fates..

Please, please help! The cost is now $40 each at the local clinic.. That means we need to come up with $1,000 to get them all fixed and vaccinated..
