Help 29:11 Record Songs of Bravery and Resistance
Tax deductible
Hello! And thank you for visiting the 29:11 International Exchange album fundraising page. We’ve got a unique opportunity to cut a new record this summer and we are immensely grateful to everyone pitching in to help.
First, a little about us: 29:11 is a world-class professional music ensemble and a 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in South Africa and the United States. Our mission is twofold: First, to develop South African artists by giving talented young people opportunities to learn, travel, and teach. Second, to share Nelson Mandela’s transcending message of hope and reconciliation as far and wide as possible. We believe in connection, even if it’s sometimes hard or messy. Time and again, we’ve seen music help open hearts to one another.
We’re hoping to gather members of the ensemble together during the summer of 2025 to record a new album. We’ve written a collection of songs about heroism, bravery, and resistance and are eager to play, sing, and share them. Recorded music helps us promote our work; it can be helpful in our educational visits; plus, it’s an item we can offer for sale at our performances.
We’ve already secured a big portion of the necessary funding—enough to make sure that members of the 29:11 ensemble are housed, fed, and paid for their work on the project. We need 30,000 dollars to finance the actual recording, mixing, and mastering of the project and we're hoping to raise half of it here. The enormously talented Chris Furst (whose credits include Britney Spears, Snoop Dogg, Penny and Sparrow, HoneyDogs, Sounds of Blackness and Kim Cruise ) has expressed interest in working with us to record, mix, and master the music. (Thank you, Chris!)
If you’re able to help, any amount is useful. If you’re in a position to give generously, any donor who contributes $1,000 or more will be listed by name in the liner notes with our gratitude. If you’re able to give 15,000 or more, email us to talk about setting up a house concert—we’d love to sing a thank you. And if funds are tight in your world, hang in there and we wish you well.
